Start with a specification
Write down materials, dimensions, performance requirements, packaging, expected quantity and destination. Include drawings or reference samples when available. A precise brief helps suppliers quote on a consistent basis.
Use several discovery channels
Combine trade fairs, supplier directories, referrals and targeted searches. Treat listings as leads to investigate rather than evidence of quality. Ask who manufactures the product and where production takes place.
Compare more than unit price
Request MOQ, sample cost, tooling ownership, lead time, payment terms and shipping basis. Confirm which costs are excluded. Low prices are difficult to assess without a shared specification.
Validate before committing
Review business documents, evaluate samples and consider a factory visit or independent inspection appropriate to the project. Record agreed specifications and acceptance criteria before paying a deposit.
